Some of my favorite things......edited because no one commented on these when I put them up at first
@Inspectorgrampy5, @Babyboomerjill, @C_L_O_G, @buddy71, @k8tthelate, @My_HAT_is_older_than_you
sail on a four masted sailing ship...which we found in a sailing ship festival in Bremerhaven, Germany
drive the streets of Paris... with a million other cars..on a trip to Paris, we got this shot of the busy street. Paris we did not drive in, we let the taxicab drivers do that. Still I've never been in a city where they got 5 lanes of cars side by side in a marked 3 lane road, they basically saw a hole and put the car in it!!!!!! Hair raising!!
take pictures of roses in my garden.. or in a vase on my counter, which is what this one was!
visit the chimpanzees in the zoo....and yes, I did take this picture at the Dallas zoo. I was on a tour they called the Photo Safari. They let us in an hour early and waited to feed the animals until we showed up. Then we got to go behind the bars or in a special side yard on most exhibits so we could photograph without chains in the pic. The alligators had a special platform for viewers and even that didn't feel entirely safe!
take pictures of my family!!! (If you can believe that?) This is my husband and one of my six daughters at the zoo another time.
went to a wedding...my 6yo twins were flower girls, here they are practicing...
Went to the desert..on the road to Az and something just exactly like I grew up around.
stayed in a historic motel....
Yes, actually spent one night here and took this picture.
The sign was that colorful in real life!!went to the mountains..(I tell you they made me do it)
lol, I love the Az mountains!!! But they were very brown this year!and had a very brown summer!!
...how was yours?

I rode my bike for 20 minutes a day.
I went to Starbucks once a day.
I lived alone half of the time other than women in their 90's.
I took pictures with my cell phone.
I think you still had lots more fun than I did.
frank
I had a good summer, and just back from San Francisco, Hurrah!!! Yay!!! And I am still thrilled after the strip.
I didn't do anything on my summer vacation but I had a good time. Looks like we're going to break the 1980 record!
@Babyboomerjill - Glad you had a good summer.
You mean the heat record? Isn't it something?
@Mal_P - I'm enjoying hearing about your summer!
Like you I did not do a lot of things.
I did spend a lot of time with Christy, Jeremy, and Jesse. I did go on severalf road trips. I always enjoy those. I mowed grass a lot and I got hot a lot. rofl I went fishing, night fishing, dam fishing, lake fishing, and river fishing. I went on two boat rides. Thinking back, I did a lot of fun things this summer.
All of it sounds wonderful!
My summer was spent trying to keep the yard and pastures from bursting into flames.
@C_L_O_G - Glad to hear that. A whole lot of fishing going on...
@WildWomanOfTheWest - I HEAR THAT!!!
sounds like a pretty good summer to me
@buddy71 - It wasn't bad, just warmer than usual and browner!!! These are some of my favorite photos though!
it was a brown summer here too ... did get to the high mountain desert ... renewed my spirit for life on the plains! I want those neon lights from that historic motel! haha
@buddy71 - How did you leave a comment without leaving footprints?????
@windupherskirt - lol, I liked them too!!
Very cool. My summer was a summer of change-good changes that needed to be made.
stealth mode. lol my guess it is a xanga glitch as i see it happening to me sometimes
Lucky you....I would have loved to have gone to the desert.
Yay ! Rhonda I see the pictures !!
The four masted sail ship is wonderful
Desert ? yes it is calm but .... Remember Jesus stayed 40 days in the desert ...
It is sure your vacations have been on a calm music ..
To answer to your quastion we went to Venice in June .and in Normandy in April . Nothing since then but it is not so bad .
Love
Michel
@LGailGarrett - @fauquet - Thanks!! We went to the desert for the wedding of my niece. My twin 6yo's were flowergirls and loved it. The sailing ship was at a big ship display in Bremerhaven Germany. So some pics are older, but the desert and wedding and mountains were this year. I'm glad to be home.
We are actually just starting here as we have had so many spending their time with us this summer. We just got back from Indiana for a visit with two of our beautiful daughters. Next week we are leaving for Ca for three weeks. So much is planned I don't know where to start.
First however my mother needs a new bath. Then it will be off to a condo in Monterrey and the famous aquarium there.Thank you for sharing!
Sounds like a busy summer to me.
just stopped by to see the new profile pic.
@buddy71 -
Thanks for the rec. of my post today. This is a creative way to describe your summer...
my summers been kinda yucky....I've made lots of plans but they all got squeelshed...I'm gonna start living on the spur from now on I think. You know how I was thinking you were our long lost cousin? Well we found the real cousin Rhonda recently - she kinda looks like you
that's a really good thing!!! ilym
@mlbncsga - That's exciting!
but I guess that leaves me out now... sigh* I hope your fall is better than your summer was. <3
@Tempguestbrief - no way mornin glorie....we done added you to the book
ilym
@mlbncsga - oh good!!

RYC :To control the situation and bring help the the horses in the steep slope when the road goes down, the coachman uses powerful disc brakes and also if needed the emergency brake . The power of the five horses is needed to pull up the steep road.

Nice - We had a great summer. We camped out by the river for a few days. -and a few weekend get aways.
BROWN is a great description, LOL. I killed my herb garden, a couple of the baby fruit trees I'd planted, and entire rose garden that somebody before me had planted here, and the grass. This was my first summer here and it just crept up on me, that thing about watering stuff. Everything had been fine since Sept and I just figured I had a maintenance free yard. WRONG!
Goin' well! And thanks for visiting my site again! God bless, ~ Pete

When I went to Europe in 1983, I found driving in Germany a little nerve-wracking because their traffic regulations were so strict. When I crossed the border into France, I felt more at ease; I grew up in Colombia, so Paris traffic made me feel right at home!
Love the Blue Swallow Motel sign! I want to stay there sometime and the Wigwam motel too.
@Roadkill_Spatula - They seemed to keep from running into each other, but I'm too OCD to like the ignoring of lines.
Germany was very strict, it's true! Did you know in Germany it costs over $1000 to get your drivers license?
Old Hat is one of my favorite things, er, people, as well! You really sailed on that ship? I must have been amazing to see them put up the sails. I don't think I could take the streets of Paris! LOL! That's just too crazy for me! I love pink roses, so I'm happy to gaze upon your picture. I think the photo safari at the zoo would be awesome! That's great that they offer something like that! You have a beautiful family (I do miss having young children...guess I'll have to wait for grandkids). I've never seen the desert. I wonder if I could live there. The mountains are beautiful, but I think I'd miss the tress here, especially in the fall! And yay for being a part of hotel history! LOL! Lovely pictures. I don't know how I missed them the first time.
@songoftheheart - Thanks!!
We didn't sail on it, but they had a dozen or so in the harbour for this festival and we got to look them over. I think my children went down in one but I had the baby with me and she wasn't interested. lol
Looks like a fun summer. LOVE the mountains anywhere--and zoos too. The best thing this summer was that my lover/husband and I went on a trip just the two of us. We are paying for it financially now, but I enjoyed every second of it. I very grateful to Father God for the opportunity.
well i guess i am nobody since i left a comment the first time.
@buddy71 - Nooooooo!!! I meant that no one commented on the pics themselves!!!! Don't SAY that!
I'm glad you commented both times!!
"bates motel?" lol did you spray for bed bugs? there...i commented on a photo. lol
@buddy71 - Blue Swallow motel, and yes, it was VERY vintage!! lol
Beautiful pics and shared that same brown summer from down the road!
ryc, Thanks, glad you are here too!
I watch again your picture of a street in Paris . I don' t drive in Paris nowadays ? I did in the past .
Germany , France : you travelled a lot in Europe .
Love
Michel
RYC : yes it is amazing to think the Pont du Gard was built at the time of Christ on Earth , Rhonda .
These are just awesome pictures I love the neon sign neon signs are one of my favorite things
These are great pictures!
This summer, I moved to Bavaria, visited Prague, and began taking classes to (finally) get my Bachelor's degree.
@imTHEmeowMIXcat - That's wonderful!! I wish you much success with your degree!
thanks, we had fun taking pictures on our trips. We never made it to Prague, but I bet that is a very interesting place to be.
What language do they speak where you are? We found most of the people we met were very kind and helpful. I hope you do the same!
@Tempguestbrief - Thank you, I have only just finished my first class. I hope that I can finish up and get my degree before my husband and I get orders to return to the States.
Prague was lovely! We had an opportunity to visit during 4th of July weekend. There are reasonably priced trips offered on the Army base every now and then. We just hopped on the bus and they took care of everything else. I need to post the pictures from our time there, I would love to go back sometime. My husband and I walked for miles each day and I still don't feel as though I was able to see it all! I would love to visit Paris sometime too, I will heed your warning however and leave the car at home! Driving on the Autobahn is stress enough, I couldn't imagine trying to get somewhere in the picture you posted!
In this part of Germany we have noticed that there are lots of English speakers. Out of courtesy, my husband and I have made attempts to speak (or should I say mangle) the German language...I plan on taking lessons so that these attempts are less painful for everyone but in the meantime, we have noticed that the locals are always very pleased with our efforts to speak with them. It is encouraging.
Take care
you should try Indian drivers, they're suicidal! sounds like you had a full summer...
@tribong_upos - yes, I've heard that and Turkish too. It was a full summer and it had it's bright points. How are you faring in the Typhoon? maybe you're not near where that is?
Driving in Paris looks as bad as driving in Bangkok!
This was not one of my favorite summers, spent most of it in a hospital bed. Not my idea of fun!
@buddly47 - yeah, me either. Glad you've recovered enough to visit xanga again!!
Sounds like a great summer. We're heading to AZ in a couple of weeks. Our only trip this year. Stayed pretty close to home all summer. Really love the rose, so lovely.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - Enjoy your trip to Az!! Those roses were so pretty and as they were wilting they had one really gorgeous day that I had to photograph!! Thanks!
mornin glorie.....I didn't comment on the photo's either
my favorites are your girls and the chimp, I have sailed on a four masted ship, called the Fantome - I need to post about that one day and put up some of the pictures we took, it was the best vacation I ever took, I'll have to get my scanner fixed though cause it was pre-digital. A long time ago one of the tenants in the housing authority planted beautiful pink roses all through the grounds....I almost always have a rose on my desk, I even dry them to have in the winter...but their not nearly as beautiful as yours.....ilym
p.s.... I miss the west!
@mlbncsga - I look forward to seeing the sailing pics!
Thanks for the rec, I love that chimp picture too, he just seemed like he was posing for me! lol the west misses you too!
very hot and very dry!
