Xanga Time Machine...thoughts (a repost from last year)
@Saintvi started this little number and I liked the idea so......
in light of the bad attitudes that have been going around the country this week, this is my understanding of where the "church" ought to be living as a whole. That said, I also want to be noted as thinking that more of the people who "Seem" to be hating on others are not doing that but only doing their own thing! Which is not the best thing according to this list. Read on....--------------------------------------------------
Let love be without dissimulation. (false advertising or pretend acting)
Abhor that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good.
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;
in honour preferring one another; (deferring to each other)
Not slothful in business;
fervent in spirit;
serving the Lord;
Rejoicing in hope; (there's a REASON to rejoice, ttL)
patient in tribulation;
continuing instant in prayer (praying constantly)
Distributing to the necessity of saints; (to other people who serve the Lord)
given to hospitality.
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. (tears are pretty easy)
Be of the same mind one toward another. (unity is a great accomplishment)
Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. (don't be snobbish)
Be not wise in your own conceits. (other people know a thing or two, too)
Recompense to no man evil for evil.
Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men
Romans 12:9-18Amen!!

when we discover our own peace, we will discover it in others ...
That's right! Peace
@shellisland - @windupherskirt - thanks, these were soothing to me yesterday...
These are a good reminder for me right now.
enjoyed that ; easier said then done but that is what being a christian is; hard work and we don't always feel like doing it
Things would be more peaceful if these verses were lived out...blessings to you!
Loved reading this
If every Christian actually did this, what would opinions of Christianity look like today? They would be a lot different from the "Christians are haters" opinions that are common today!
I love Romans 12. If I was on a deserted island, that is the only chapter I would need.
frank
I think this may be where Ehrmann got his inspiration for the Desiderata - Blessing the persecutors is the hardest part of this I think - no one said it would be easy though - ilymornin glorie
@ANVRSADDAY - which version Frank?
@LetterByLesson - Absolutely! Thanks for visiting!
@ANVRSADDAY - I love Proverbs and Psalms too, but this is definitely wonderful!
@mlbncsga - very true!
@mlbncsga - Actually, I would like translations from the KJV, ,ESV, . NLT, and NASV.
@ANVRSADDAY - I have "the bible on one page" on my computer http://www.jrsbible.info/bible.htm I've been reading all the different translations but I think I still like KJV best....of course I'm not one who likes changing the normal around
@mlbncsga - I have done all of my memory work in the KJV and enjoy reading it. It has met the test of time and was very literal. It can be trusted.
@mlbncsga - Thanks for the one Bible page link. It was nice today.
@mlbncsga - Funny, I was thinking of posting this in a different translation a couple days...
"great minds... " and all that.
@ANVRSADDAY - I added some stuff to my profile if you would like to see it now?
@Tempguestbrief -

@mlbncsga - Your link to the Bible all on one page is neat, thanks from me too!
@Tempguestbrief - I loved your profile. May I subscribe to you?
@ANVRSADDAY - yes, of course.
Trying...and failing every day. That makes me pray more.
@LGailGarrett - yes, it's a goal I don't expect any of us will reach completely until we are perfected.
This is worth reading every day! Thank you for reposting.
(pats heart, and points to you)
@Jaynebug - Hey there!! Hugs!!! <3
If I were on a desert island, this is the chapter of the Bible I would want.
@ANVRSADDAY - Isn't it wonderful?
@Tempguestbrief - Yes it is. If every church made this chapter their mission, this world would be much different now. I love this chapter.
Amen!
In every encounter with every human being, we leave a bit of ourselves behind....Let it be something GOOD.
